Re: Moved to a house with a third party active line

Oh - two things more.

1) If you do go with someone else, make sure in written form that the BT order is cancelled.

2) There may be a phone cease pending. A decent ISP should be able to check that for you.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 52.9/14.2Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Thanks
Agree that taking over the line from the existing provider could be the quickest option. Not a massive user but skype up to 2 hours a day, have found 40Gb adequate in the past. As my partner is in Oz half the year, don't have much call for peak hour useage.

Do you need lotsof phone calles to Oz?

My bro has TalkTalk with, IIRC, unlimited calls to there. His wife has family and it used to cost the earth with BT.

If you have a partner in Oz for half the year think about this.

Get a BT service with a VOIP line included - that will have an 0560 xxxxxxx number and maybe an 01/02 overlay number. Install the BT Communicator software on your partner's PC.

Then to call your partner, just dial the UK number and the phone will ring, or your partner can call you and other UK friends at local rates.

I use it when travelling - US, S Africa, Europe ... and is great value. A one hour call to the US will cost 10p! and even when in the US it is far cheaper than using my mobile if I have a WiFI or hotel connection available.
