Re: I want to be Btinternet not Openworld

In reply to a post by RobertoS:
Is what is being said here that anyone with the allocated email address of anick@btopenworld.com also has anick@internet.com, and maybe a few other "@btdomains? Just that BT don't tell punters this?

I find that ridiculous, but so many of you seem to be saying it is true.

Presumably you meant nick@btinternet.com!

I can also confirm it as true as the btinternet (sure that came 1st) and btopenworld domains work quite happily for my "nick"

No, Openworld came first. I can receive from both but send only from Openworld via the web interface. I'll try some of the suggestions here - many thanks. Anyone from BT Care here to give any guidance?

BT Internet was the first, for dial-up. BT Openworld came along later when they started ADSL.

I was referring to the email address @btinternet. When I joined BT I was given @btopenworld and friends who joined up later got @btinternet.

So was I. As far as I remember, the @btinternet was first and they added the alternative @btopenworld later. The intention was to migrate over to @btopenworld but few did and so they decided not to. The current confusion has remained.

Thanks Ian - typo corrected.

Also I think btinternet came first, I has it on ADSL fixed 512kbps at my office when that was the fastest available.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.7/14.9Mbps @ 600m. - BQM
