That packet loss for online gamers is a no no. I came from Be which is was near on perfect for the 4 years I had it. VM are just plain awful and now BT is starting to look poor.

Has anyone contacted BT as above? Any progress?

I've been observing this issue since the 13th Feb and hoped it would clear up without contacting BT.

Yesterday it looked like it had been fixed:

However tonight the packetloss and slight rise in latency is back:
http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share-large/eb11d...

It's not severe but the low/erratic throughput is starting to become annoying.

Plusnet users seem to have the same issue as posted to their status page and even had someone monitoring their forum and interacting with customers to try and find the problem last night, nothing definitive was found though:

yep 3 nights ago my graph was clean also but then it came back.

its as if the decision to unthrottle p2p was made rashly and without planning, and whatever the congestion that occurs live with it attitude.

looks a completely different issue, and plusnet staff even posted its a problem plusnet side.

In my opinion this problem is BT retail not BT wholesale, I checked aaisp's blogs for info on it as aaisp would be noisy about it if was on BT wholesale for weeks.

I would say what did you expect, BT to have scaled network to allow p2p and streaming to expand to maximum capability with no impact on the network.

The football was on so I guess the net was quiet :/

A user on the bt forums claims to have took part in a trial for the p2p unthrottling back in december:

Looks the same to me. You have a link for that?

Agreed.

Bar some congestion over christmas sky are managing it. If BT aren't willing to keep up they will just lose customers to sky which I'm not sure they are happy to do.

Chrysalis, did you recontract to get the throttling removed? I havn't yet due to these problems, locking myself in isn't an optionn because I can't put up with this long term. I'll contact BT_Care tonight if it's still broken.

Hello guys,

Plusnet and Sky have been having problems that I've also had but mine including packet loss. Links below...

PlusNet: http://www.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=2&support_ac...

Looking at the forum a few had packet loss on top of the problems stated.

Sky: http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Fibre-Broadband/Fibre-Br...

Though it may not be directly connected, it's worth noting. Though It could just be a matter of a coincidence.
