Re: Is this ADSL1 or ADSL2

ADSL2+ will likely increase upload speeds, BUT downstream speeds are not likely to be different and there was a few errors suggesting maybe that ADSL2+ might be more unstable.

Its one of those until you try it you don't really know.

Not sure what WBC is, but I got the info via SamKnows;

Exchange name: Whaley Bridge
Exchange code: MRWHA

WBC is ADSL2+ service from BT Wholesale, which means BT Total, Plusnet, Zen, IDNet and others.

The exchange also offers ADSL2+ from Sky and TalkTalk using their own hardware

My line stuck on ADSL(1) when I was first activated. I reported it via the BT forums which seems to get more positive results than phoning.

It took a few days but then it switched to ADSL2+. My upstream speed went from 448 to 588 but downstream didn't change.

Funnily enough, the downstream SNR seemed more stable but upstream was a bit more spiky. After a further few day, the downstream SNR automatically changed to 3dB (from 6dB) and the downstream speed changed from 5,400 ish to 6,203. Has been running for 25 days since - SNR now clinging on at 2dB ! On ADSL(1), I was lucky if I got 2 days uptime.

As you say, always worth a try.

In reply to a post by Vini:
So, we're saying the line is still ADSL1 and that switching to 2+ won't help, or might make things worse?
I would expect ADSL2 to be worth 500k extra downstream, through a lower SNR margin would be worth a bit more.
