Re: New ADSL2 connection - Slower than my previous connectio

[re: RobertoS] [link to this post]

I have rung the team that was helping me and told them, I was told I would be called back, but haven't heard anything yet.

I've reset the hub but it makes no difference.

It seems that the original hub doesn't handle adsl2+ or I just have a faulty one, its strange that it worked perfectly with adslmax for 6 years though !

Sounds more like it just doesn't handle ADSL2+.

Can you set it to G.DMT or G.992.1 in the GUI? That should get you back to your ADSL Max speeds until you get a replacement.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 54.2/15.2Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Its a BT home hub, the original white one (with the place for the phone).
I can't see anything in the GUI to change back to ADSL Max unfortunately.

It won't say ADSL Max. You are looking for the ones I gave. Possibly labelled Mode.

It wouldn't say this then:
In reply to a post by Merly:
Modulation: G.992.5 annex A
but it might not handle ADSL2+ properly or need a firmware update to do so.

EDIT: Rather remiss of BT to upgrade connection but not send out new router, knowing OP has original router for years running only on ADSL Max.

Something is obviously wrong with this particular Home Hub unit.

However, they all support ADSL2+. BT have a helpful list confirming this.

My new hub arrived today, now getting around 16 download speed, fingers crossed the new hub has fixed the problem.

Hi Merly, did you get this problem solved? I upgraded my BT broadband to the same as you, just under a week ago, and I'm having a lot of problems.
Everything is running very slow, and videos take so long to load, then keep buffering.
I have never had this problem before, and I had been on the same basic package with BT for more years than I can remember.
I'm beginning to wonder if I have done the right thing. All I wanted was to be able to use it more than I could on 10gb.
I didn't realise anything would change like that. Is is a waste of time?????
