Hadn't looked but the calling plan is already £7 and isn't changing so presumably any special rates are not being affected.

The way I see it is, if they provision it on 6th (or 7th) December, that's when the 12 months starts. I don't see how they can provision a requested calling feature one one date but don't start counting the 12 month contract until a month later.

Presumably "provision" can only be a minimum term start date, since this offer is only open to existing customers of BTP&CD there is nothing to provision in the product-sense since the product is identical to what customers are already on.

Even tho' it is still normally free until 4 Jan? Why should you pay, with a tie-in contract, for something that is still free for nearly a month?

You end up buying just over 11 months free Caller Display in exchange for a 12 months contract.

Because BT say so, I guess.

If you've got it now and don't pre-register to have it for free (which means committing to a new 12 months contract) nor cancel it then it will be billed from January.

When the new contract starts, if one commits by pre-registering, that still seems to be the unanswered mystery...

What we don't no is what happens at the end of the 12 months. If it is "you get it free for the foreseeable future if you contract to a further 12 months" then that is different to "you get it free for 12 months if you contract for 12 months". It could be that at the end of the contract they will continue to supply it - I know it is unlikely and doesn't fit BTs way of working but it is possible.

they wont let me do the line rental saver on this extension either

So you took LRS and now the pre-registration form says you aren't eligible for free caller display?

it said neither, so I rang up to confirm what would happen if I registered.

It's quite likely. BT are probably making BTP&CD an ongoing retention tool which is pretty cheap for them at £1.75 a month whilst valuable enough to make a lot of people commit for 12 months.
