This is not the wifi on my SSID. But separate isolated Wifi and Wifi with Fon. in a separate part of of the HH4. I could opt out of this, but as I use the the wifi of other owners of HH4 whilst out and about, I am happy to use HH4

No, your sync speed doesn't change. Your highest speed when using the internet will be reduced a bit when someone is actively using the BT-Wifi / FON part.

BT use a VPN tunnel to keep the BT-Wifi / FON traffic away from yours, this ensures you as the BT customer are not responsible for what other users do (ie, their internet use doesn't come from your IP).

Agreed that a simple, corded handset is the best to carry out the QLT.

But I suggest that the essentially corded base unit with in-built phone facilities, of an otherwise "cordless" phone set would be a reasonable substitute in this era; and even a cordless hand-set would help to pick up about 90% of QLT revelations.

For example, such (semi-) cordless devices should help show a clear distinction if any of the Noise is generated in the Internal Wiring directly by Poor Connections etc and also Induced Noises such as from Plasma TVs, compared to the External wiring beyond the NTE.

Fortunately my collection of i-service phones covers that range of types, with the exception of truly "ancient" types with carbon mikes and powered by the 24V DC from the Exchange.

On a slightly different aspect, I suggest that we ask Andrew, aka Mr Saffron, to include Notes on QLT under "Tools" or even at the higher, more obvious, level of "thinkbroadband", the latter to get the attention of any "newbies"; and to show that it is of considerable importance to have a "Quiet Line" for any level of phone-line -delivered Broadband, and also even Dial-Up.

Of course! Just trying to keep costs down for those who mistakenly believe that the phone line is an unnecessary appendage for other than carrying broadband.

Mine actually went down.

Migrated from Be to BT.

Had 7mb line with Be.... Have a 4.6 - 5.5mb line with BT.... Same line, same sockets!

That's exactly the kind of thing that worries me...

Presumably a move from ADSL2+ to plain ADSL Max.

A move retaining ADSL2+ should be much more painless.

Actually that's a very good point that I forgotten about. It should be a straight switch to ADSL2+ but I now remember that BT refused to enable 2+ on my neighbours line.

Moved from Xilo 21CN to BT Broadband 21CN and at first they did not put me on an ADSL2+ profile, due to my line being long.

I put a thread on the official BT Broadband forum and they responded asking for details etc. A week later I was back on an ADSL2+ profile running at the same speed as Xilo.

No issues with pings, reliabillity, download speeds. I'm getting bang on what I should be.
