I was sure that was always the case way back, but did not know if it was a recent change.

That must be a relatively recent change, as about 3 years back, we were on BT ANYTIME; and my lady-wife was horrified we had been charged something like £4 for a 63 minute call, to a conventional domestic line.

Either a recent change, or one thing in the contract and another on the bill.

About the same time I was pleasantly surprised that an unattentive 63 min call to an 01 # only cost a few pence. So I checked their website to find it so. I have not had 1 since.

Another term to note, in your favour, is:
A set up fee will not apply to the following calls unless otherwise stated in this Tariff Guide:

UK Day, Evening and Weekend geographic, 0870, g21 rate and 0845 calls where the pence per minute (ppm) rate has been set to zero for the first hour of each call (or to such calls which start within the uncharged period but end after the uncharged period)

I can remember when It was like that. It was always a case of let it run for 55 minutes and then call back.

But the Q is how much does it cost when you fail to be sensible and do that.

The probably thought they could rake in more cash with the 20p charge for every 1471 and 1751 call.

the 20p charge for every 1471 and 1571 call.
Eh, what charge is that then? Aren't those #s free to call? How's it related to the topic of this thread?
