I was considering an Apple Airport extreme as a replacement, anyone used these with infinity?

Yep, I've been using an AE with my BT infinity for 3 years now. As soon as the BT installers left, the HH was put back in its box and the AE was connected.

BT -> Zen -> F2S -> Bulldog -> Be* -> BT Infinity 2

Been using the airport extreme for a while now with no problems.
I had occasional problems with Apple TV buffering using the HH2, no longer with the airport extreme.
There is also an added advantage of being able to set up a guest wifi network that visitors can use.

No experience with earlier models, but had a HH4 since January and no issues. It reset itself setting up FON within first 24/48 hours.

Then when a Openreach engineer at cabinet - had a reset.

Other than that - rock solid performance over ethernet & wifi.

Not disregarding your issues, but just giving a different view.

Yea it could have been the HH2 and HH3 not being suited to this, I don't know why.
I just didn't want to fork out for a new HH and would rather go down the Apple route since I use mostly Apple equipment. The extreme (5th gen) was only £50 of ebay.

The Extreme is very similar to the HH4 and 5 since its dual band WiFi, whereas the 3 is only 2.4GHz, and the 2 very old. The Extreme is a good bit of kit, but lacks features. I bought new and sold on eBay for more than you paid, nice price smile

I've not used It with infinity but currently use a 5th gen with virgin media 152mb services and its perfect.

Even manage 160mb over 5ghz wifi if I have multicast rate set to high but on medium it still shoots up to and past 100mbps.
