Bt mail

have just changed to latest BT mail. Does not operate in Vista & I.E 9. How ridiculous.

It does for me.

No reason BT Webmail should not work under any browser or tht BT email should not work from any PC email client.

No I'm not being a browser snob, I use IE11 every day at work but IE9 is out of date. Nobody expects google to support IE8 on Windows XP and it's not unreasonable that websites will phase out support for IE9 as well eventually.

The OP should see how they get on with chrome or Firefox as these are still being actively developed on the XP and Vista platform

That someone uses BT Mail as their main or only email service is what I find ridiculous. I have my client set up to check for new mail that may arrive in there from BT but that is all. That said, it *does* work using IE9 under Vista so there must be something else about the OP's set up (security software settings?) which is stopping it working for them.

Yeah, I think it's poor that Microsoft stopped releasing new versions of IE on Vista, an OS which is still suported. For that reason I tend to recommend Vista users switch to Chrome. The web is no place to be using outdated clients, IMO.

Anyone would think MS had stopped releasing securiy fixes for the latest version of IE that is supported by Vista. Well have they?

No. But but web technologies are fast developing and security fixes aren't the only things needed in a web client.

What was the last web technology that was a real step forward in what we had before? What recent web technology is essential to the working of a decent webmail client?
