I'll try and have a look tonight and get some photos.

However, is this not a moot point? Again, from what I understand from what Saffy has said, I am actually getting the right speed for my line, so surely the issue now is getting downgraded to Infinity 1 rather than trying to upspeed?

Sorry, I was ok when it came to ADSL fut all this new fangled stuff is new to me laugh

If you take off the 'phone (voice) plate, you should then be able to take the filter assembly off. That will leave two screws to allow you to remove the final layer - when you remove those, what is on the back where the wires are connected? Are there components or a 60x25mm cover over some?

Can you remove each part and upload some images of them.

I am wondering if you have had a master installed and that may be causing a few issues?

I know what you are getting at, but these days it could well be a master, and the external NTE is bypassed by connecting the incoming and outgoing lines together, so the outside box has no effect, no double master.

It could very well be. In those cases the house owner should be made fully aware of what is installed, preferably written, so they know exactly where the boundary is.

On a new build there is/was a document handed over to the home-owner stating that the "boundary" is it the grey box and everything past the three output terminals is the responsibility of the home-owner.so if it is changed, how will they be formally notified?

I agree that from the details given, 30-40 Mbps is probably the right speed.

Checking and knowing what is there will make it easier for your discussions with BT.

Ok got that smile It amazes me, it is their infrastructure and I have to prove to them that they messed up!

Heh! smile

If he did what system says, he hasn't messed up. Did you notice whether or not he did anything inside the grey box? It would only take a couple of minutes, but he would have had to open it.

As you say though, it looks from the distance that you have all you can get. Have you by any chance given Andrew your postcode or preferably full address, in case he can narrow things down given that?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 57.2/15.0Mbps @ 600m. - IPv4BQM IPv6BQM

You will get no argument from me, I agree with you. I don't want to go off topic but doing this with an external NTE leads to confusion for the owner as it still says inside the box that everything beyond it is the owners responsibility.

BT messed up by providing me an estimated speed way above the speed my line can provide then allowing me to order that package.

As Saffy has been quite clear on, my line is performing within its capable paramaters and thus I should not have been estimated way beyond that or order way beyond that.

More than happy to give Saffy whatever details he needs, if he thinks it would help pinpoint things more, however, given the length of the cabling from the external box to the new master plate, it is unlikely to make any difference.

The guy did absolutely nothing to the outside box.

Given that you and all your neighbours are in the 30-40 range, as far as you know, have you tried looking to see what their estimates are? Are they all up in the 60+ range? If so, the checker must be getting incorrect info from somewhere and not updating correctly.

I have watched a line improving from mid-50s to high 70s. Within a day of the repair, the checker moved up and as faster syncs were seen the checker moved again as it had live data.
