Broadband Ready?

This is probably a daft question but going to ask it anyway!!

We are moving to BT next week and e-mail states "Don't plug in your BT Home Hub until we let you know that your broadband's ready"

My question how do BT let you know your broadband is ready?

Text message?

Can't see why you can't plug it in when you want.

Text is a possible one, can't remember if I gave them mobile number mind, guess they could send automated one to house phone.

I am baffled why they state you must not plug it in, can't see what harm it can do!

I plugged it in and left it until the light came on, saying it's ready.

The text message came in 1 hour later. I was already surfing the Internet before that.

We left our old modem/router connected (but switched off) after brother moved out taking the broadband connection with him.
We did however once old provider was moved to brothers new address, then switch it back on and it synced up to the BT Network a several hours before the new HH4 arrived.
And once the HH4 arrived we just swapped them over.

BT would of given you an activation date when they enable your broadband service, so you could just connect it up the night before and turn it on the day that they said.
