When I moved in I checked the NTE, it has a single feed to the first socket. From that socket, all other extensions were connected. I immediately removed all those extensions, and, if I recall correctly, the bell wire. That improved my ADSL speed at the time, from less than a meg to around 5meg.
I run my cordless phone from the phone socket of the new master so do not need any other extensions connected in the house.
When the infinity was installed recently, the engineer didn't do anything with the external openreach box.
I will have a look in it tonight and see what's what.

Absolutely typical.
Had an afternoon (1pm-6pm) appointment arranged and I get a call at 930 telling me he will be there in half an hour.
As I am in work, that was impossible. Luckily I managed to convince him that whatever booking he had been given was wrong and that he should turn up at the alloted time slot.
Much as expected and does not bode well for a resolution!

At least he called rather than turning up and you then getting a message that no-one was there! It may well be someone different in te afternoon.

Worst case is that delays build up during the day and they end up missing the slot altogether. Generally I go for morning slots and take the whole day off when I can - more chance of them turning up.

If the system has shifted an afternoon appointment to the early morning it does suggest that they have spare capacity today so hopefully it will not happen.

The other possibility that crossed my mind was that he had spare time possibly due to a missed booking or something and thought he could try it on.
That's just the cynic in me though....

Or just happened he had just done a call very close by so thought kill 2 birds with one stone. Doesn't mean the next job won't overrun badly and result in knock on delays...

Yeah lots of possibilities. However, had that been the case I would have expected him to say just that, "on the off chance I thought I would give you a call" rather than state he had been given a morning job.
Either way, as long as he turns up and fixes the problem, or condems my line so I can get out of the contract, I will be happy.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he does turn up I just find afternoon slots have more potential for being missed. Anyway, hope he fixes it.

Generally I go for morning slots and take the whole day off when I can - more chance of them turning up. I agree, best to get as early as possible just in case it takes longer than expected due to issues, there is noting worse in having last slot to have issues and have to have them come back the next day to finish off the fault.
