You often can, but rarely guarantee a specific date. Then there's the possibility that something goes wrong and you are left with no broadband for a couple of weeks or more until the next spare slot.

Avoiding over-lapping periods is almost impossible. Some ISPs though will refund you the unused part of a month. I've no idea if Sky do or not.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.4 (interleaved)/15.6Mbps @ 600m. - IPv4BQM IPv6BQM

My advice is to keep things simple and do what the ISP is expecting as normal, rather than trying to do something more 'custom'. The small providers might be able to manage this, but at the larger providers the systems are not set-up for this sort of variation in how people want things.

I rang Sky to give notice but couldnt refuse the very good offer given by retentions team..
