I thought as a rule of thumb, BT don't send out the Openreach modem. It was only the Openreach engineers that carried them.

OP, why not call BT and ask them to send you Home Hub 5. Then that would cut out the need for two boxes.

You should probably use the new PSU with the new modem as the old and the newer versions have different amperage.

I wold also use the new modem, but just to make sure it is working OK. The amperage difference is fine as the white (new) plug can supply a higher amperage than the original black one. The other way round and you would have been right.

True. In a similar vein I have arranged to have all my 2A USB chargers to hand for normal charging and relegated the lower (eg 1A or so) chargers to bedside where they can take their own sweet time when charging up my various devices overnight.

My first modem died and got it replaced free, however they did replace a huewei modem with an ECI... i wasn't home at the time.
