May I ask what Gen MBP?

is it 2x2 5Ghz or 3x3 5Ghz..

Either way I'm sure the issues being seen with WiFi performance on HH5 will be 2.4Ghz... just like every most other ISP router complaints.

Also with most devices even though compatible ending up on 2.4Ghz due to range limits of 5Ghz and most having routers setup with same SSID on both bands

I've just recently replaced my HH5 (rubbish) with a Linux NUC gateway running Ubuntu. All went really easily apart from the multicast TV which was a mare and took me 4 days after all the messing around. Works great now.

It's amazing the lack of information out there for setting up multicast TV - most of it is geared to third-party routers and the igmp proxy information is a closed box, plus some of the info is incorrect - you don't just want to fire all multicast joins out the WAN because you'll be routing mDNS, Bonjour, Chromecast etc etc.
