Re: HomeHub 5 - 5Ghz Speed

1. Some devices do not like/work properly with the 2 WiFi networks having the same name - but given the technical knowledge of the average user, I guess that is why most ISPs use the same network name.

2. As I understand it, the latest firmware updates have fixed many of the WiFI issues the HH5 used to have - it might be worth you reconnecting it to allow it to download the latest firmware and see how the performance changes..

Two of us on this thread use a HG635 from talk talk (me included).

I flogged mine some time ago, well when the HH5 worked like a dream and it wasn't needed.

I have latest firmware and have the same issue FYI.

The speeds are almost identical to mine when they slow down...
I can confirm using the same channel with a different router yields speeds over 400Mbps, so it's not the channel that's the issue. It seems changing the channel does trigger a temporary fix (a few hours) and a reboot often lasts longer.

Apparently a new homehub is on the way, perhaps it will have wireless AC 3200 standard with a real world throughout of 56kbps.

i've just turned the 5GHz from ac to n just to see if that makes a difference to reliability, speeds are the same so we'll see i guess (but i'm not holding my breath)

Well 3 days since i put the 5GHz side of things to 450Mbit and so far so good (although i reckon i have put the mockers on it now and it is bound to slow down again) http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5302003939

Roll on the HomeHub 6.

Hopefully it will have wireless AC3200.

Although real world speeds of <10Mbps and a requirement to set it to wireless G 54Mbps setting for up to 20Mbps speeds whilst sitting 2cm from the hub.

Only joking, but in all seriousness I cannot believe the AC is this poorly tested in the HH & years after roll out & firmware upgrades this remains an issue.

I am trialing this myself now. I will report back! Wireless N speeds are good enough for my 40Mbps requirements.
