Re: HomeHub 5 - 5Ghz Speed

Thanks. Yeah it does indeed state that it's only available on the specific port, which is a bit odd and like you say an additional switch is a potential fix crazy

Have you looked at this thread on the BT Youview forums - might help with ideas around configuring (I can't see your specific model there but there are other TP-Link routers listed that may be similar).

Can't see how it would help, Chapter 7 of the TPLink manual seems quite specific.

Just the fact there are people there that have done it and may have done it in other ways.

Its brand new that router i have ordered but it seems multicast is only available over one LAN port so mutiroom is out unless i use a switch, i've 3 months left on my BT TV contract as well so i might as well just stay with a HH5 until i can turn one box off.

This thread suggests it works without changing any settings. That IPTV setting doesn't feel right for this - it may work with just IGMP Snooping turned on.

I've cancelled the order for the router now anyway, last thing i need is the wrath of the missus because the TV doesn't work on both boxes.

I'm cancelling multiroom in 3 months and by then the router i ordered will be off its first firmware and a more mature product, knowing it already works with a single box will be just fine by then but thanks for the help anyway.

And you never know i might have worked out the mystery of the failing 5GHz on the HH5 Type B by then, i know i am odd but i actually quite like the HH5.

Hi guys.

I am only interested in people who have separated their 2.4 and 5Ghz SSID on their HomeHub.
I have an issue where the 5Ghz WiFi speeds fall rapidly on the HH5.

ON THE TYPE A

5ghz speeds are fine for approximately 2 days of uptime, beyond this, the speed caps around 25Mbps. Rebooting the router brings it back to 37Mbps.

ON THE TYPE B

5Ghz speeds are fine after a reboot. The speeds then go haywire, often falling below 10Mbps, then back up to full speed. A channel change or a reboot often helps. The issues begin just an hour or so after a reboot.

Who else sees this behaviour?

To confirm, using my own router resolves this matter.

All speedtests are ran with full WiFi reception in the same room as the HH5

(Im quoting just so we know what the thread was about to begin with lol)

This has to be a huge coincidence but it's 7 days and 3 hours since i turned off my Type B to put a MK3 faceplate on to replace a MK2 and its not missed a beat since http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5334832898 no channel changing or owt needed (although i assume it will balls straight up now i have posted this)

HH5A? I hear the latest firmware fixes the issues with the WiFi, but I do not have it yet, it is being slowly rolled out.
