Agreed it sounds to me like mlmclaren has a faulty device.

We are always streaming 1080P on the smart TV and ps4 without any drop outs what so ever.

7 laptops, a mix of OSX, Windows 7 and 8, 10 work and personal laptops
iPad x 2
Amazon kindle
Apple TV 3rd gen

Not had any drop outs on any device using the smart hub. Signal and range is better than ever and actually since a firmware upgrade appears to be beating my HG635 which initially was the winner.

I only find issues on 2G to affect 'some' mobile devices, mainly those that 'try' to stay connected to the WiFi during sleep...

Maybe its something to do with devices trying to use less power for WiFi whilst sleeping...

Beside's it's impossible to try comparing 2G wifi to other users... some may live in the middle of nowhere where they have all the spectrum they could ever need, myself and many other live in urban area's where neighbors WiFi frequently take part in the battle for the evenings broadcasting.

All I can say is I never had these problems with other 2G devices... also could it be something to do with the new filters installed in the devices or maybe something to do with the spectrum 4G from some networks could be broadcasting on...

I know the EE mast not to far away from me is pumping out 4G+ (LTE-A) at 2600mhz... and living in the center of town, I'm sure Vodafone may be also pumping out the equivalent.

I got BT's new Hub development team working with me on the issues anyway, so waiting for them to come back too me.

I have a four storey set of flats next door to me with around 32 wireless networks detected by my MacBook at 2.4Ghz.

I don't think the issues are due to being in an urban area as you're suggesting.

I also have a phone mast 150m away broadcasting 4G Vodafone, 3 and O2. I actually get full 4G or 4/5 bars in my home on these networks.

I have devices set to keep the wireless always on during sleep.

I'm interested in replicating the issues, mainly for personal interest, what devices have the problems? Chances are I either own the device or have one at work / know someone with that device.

What exactly are you seeing? Just wireless being dropped regularly?

It could be a faulty unit you have as well.

Yes I mentioned this on my review as an issue. I also do not like how they have stopped us using any DFS channels.

I actually think the -5 issue is a big deal. Especially if they release this for businesses which I'm sure they will. You can't just have the hub putting random letters on the end of an SSID you define. Because it doesn't know what other access points you may have already in the system. It's a shame there's no direct way of giving feedback to the hubs and devices team who design these things.

I'm starting to think I might have a bad nit of hardware too, maybe part of a bad batch....

I've popped a message over to the guys handling my case and asked if they will arrange a new hub.

Just because their's 4G networks near you don't mean they are broadcasting at 2600mhz.... actually out of the networks you've shared, only Vodafone has rights to broadcadt a 2600mhz which is closest to 2.4Ghz wifi... and EE only seem to be activated 2600Mhz in selected central locations at the moment.

I don't live next to an apartment building, I live in it and across from me is a bunch of offices .. (a quick scan shows 34 networks on 2.4Ghz band) though those are just SSID's so you can drop that down by at least 10-15 easy...

I also do have 4GEE, that's what I use personally. Only 3 bars out of 5 in my home. It is double speed EE though. I was just explaining what is broadcast from the closest phone mast. Not sure where EE comes from. Could be the same mast, but not shown on the ofcom sitefinder (which is outdated).

You did not mention which devices are having the issues?

You might be aware that double speed is most often just 20mhz at 1800mhz.

Also devices are iPhone's an Xiaomi Mi 5 and an Oppo F1.

When I first set up my smarthub I got a warning about password strength and ignored it. It was very slow and part of the interface didn't work properly. I also remember seeing a warning about using the same password as on the BT site.

I then factory reset it and entered a new stronger password and everything has been fine since.

I am on band 3, so not 1800 yes. Just checked.

I have an iPad and iPhone, not tried them on 2.4Ghz much but will forget 5Ghz network and see if anything seems a miss.
