Looks like stuck at BTend.

Others have had success with this here. Having failed on phone

Above is link to a posting that updated 448 to higher level

Yes, it does look like an issue at BT which a number of people have experienced. I have made a topic on the BT community forum to see if someone can fix it for me. Hopefully I will find out tomorrow.

BTW I have tried my Speedtouch 546 router which is IPv4 and I have got a downstream sync of 6946 Kbps with a SNM lowered to 4.5 dB. The Smart Hub 2 is only giving me 5.824 Mbps with a none changeable 6.2 dB SNM. Every little helps at these low speeds.

I am interested in the router that you were offering which hopefully will provide more than the Smart hub 2 can offer. If that offer is still open?

SKY ADSL 2/2+ Atten: 27dB to 27.5dB up, 49dB to 49.5dB down
Still using SpeedTouch 546v5 and looking for 6.1.4.3 firmware currently stuck with 5.4.0.11

Possibly they just uncapped the ADSL1 upstream rate from 448Kbps to 8128Kbps.

No they can't. 448Kbps remain the same for upload on ADSL1 (downstream remain the same on 8128Kbps)

He can ask BT to upgraded him to ADSL2+ to get higher sync rate for his downstream (up to 21000Kbps) and upstream up to (max is 1279Kbps)

My connection was meant to be ADSL2+ and not ADSL1. There is no reason for it being ADSL1 abart from another mess up by BT/Openreach. There was already one mess up with this migration. It looks like I got two for one.

Max! Nope.

BT Wholesale offered, (still does?) two levels of ADSL. (It wasn't and isn't called ADSL1 except later on forums). Both capped at 8192kbps downstream, one 448kbps upstream and the other 872kbps upstream. (Usually called ADSL Max by ISPs, hence your username/nick).

LLU did not exist.

Then ADSL2+ came along. All providers including BT with top downstream of 24mbps and 1.2 or 1.3 kbps upstream. Some 1.4kbps.

But!

On LLU if ADSL2+ was not possible on a line, or they/we tweaked down to ADSL, the LLU suppliers provided the full 8mbps (8192kbps) downstream with uncapped upstream.

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro, 4G+ (LTE) max 165Mbps down, 24Mbps up on Three Mobile, and B311 4G+ router, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up (Three)ZTE MF286D router speedtest.net 113/20Mbps.

Agreed, in 2011 I got these stats for BTw G.992.1 - note the 832Kbps upstream rate and upstream SNR margin:

DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 832 / 8.064

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,0 / 19,5

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20,5 / 35,0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 9,0 / 12,0

Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / P

Ah! Yes, I have posted 872 a few times, but you are correct with 832kbps. 67% right is enough for an A* these days I think?

Yes they did on Friday morning. I receive email notifications and I replied to the PM on Friday but it looks like it might be sometime later today/Monday before they respond.

ATM I do not know whether my latest phone line is better or worse that the one that I had. I cannot remember what attenuation my old line had with ADSL1 modulation by comparison because it was extremely rare that I ever used G992.1 modulation, maybe one or two tried in many years.43 to 45 dB attenuation down with ADSL1 modulation now, 49/49.5 dB with ADSL2 and 52/53 dB with ADSL2+ on the old line and I am not sure how 43 to 45 dB would compare.

Go to kitz.co UK. Broadband section There is max speed calculator it will give expected download speeds for different attenuations

Yes I received an email notification about it on Friday and I responded to the PM that I was sent.

On Monday I received a telephone call from BT broadband. He said he was having some trouble changing it to ADSL2+. He told me that he was putting it back onto the line training for 10 days. I noticed my internet disconnect after midnight on Wednesday morning. When I checked the line stats it is now on ADSL2+ (G.992.5) the speed is still not great TBH and lower than it was with my Speedtouch which managed just below 7 Mbps on G.992.1. As you can see, the upload SN Margin is very low despite the low upload speed of only 792 Kbps. Be* broadband managed 1310 Kbps up with a very similar SN margin of around 3dB. The attenuation is different on the Smart Hub 2 to what it was on my speedtouch and Sky router, it shows a line attenuation of 48.0 dB / 24.7 dB and a signal attenuation of 52.1 dB / 0.0. That was close to what it was on my previous phone line, 52.0 @ Be* broadband and 53.0 @Sky, slightly lower now but with a lot lower connection speed so the line does not seem any better, maybe worse. Would I be correct in thinking that the attenuation will increase as the connection speed is increased?

There are no error numbers that I can find which were clearly displayed on my Speedtouch. Those were a bit of a joke they got so high. FEC? errors got enormous. The firmware update did lower the CRC errors to a more acceptable level. That old Speedtouch is only an IPv4 router so not really suitable for todays internet.

ATM with the line training I don't want to disturb it.
