BT TV box pro

[link to this post]

I rcently renewed my BT contract and was sent a BT Smart Hub2 and switched to BT VOIP digital. Since then my troubles began. I have posted a help request on VOIP forum about Truecall but I also have an issue with the TV pro box that since I changed the p[revious BT Smart Hub to the new Smart Hub2 my BT TV pro box struggles to see or connect to my Tenda Nova mesh as it keeps seeing only the weak signal of the Smart Hub 2 which is far away and not the full strength signal from the nearby mesh node . All other devices such as iPads, phones etc have no issue seemlessly connecting to the mesh system ..
Only by constantly trying again & again to connect , switching off hub & TV box etc do I eventually see a strong signal allowing me to view BT sport channels and access recorded programme library & streaming services via BT pro box.
Any help and suggestions gratefully received as BT's own help line service is worse than useless and just keeps telling me my Hub is too far away. This was not an issue with my original BT Hub smart hub

A couple of questions

Previously was the BT Pro box connecting to the mesh or the old hub?

When you now get a strong connection is that with the mesh or with the new hub?

TBH the best way of connecting the BT Pro box is with an ethernet cable but I assume the distance / location makes that awkward. Another solution is to connect using powerline adapters but I think they need to be on the same ring circuit (but not sure about that - need to check).

I believe that is correct.

Is it possible to turn off the Hub WiFi, forcing the box to connect to the mesh?

BT TV pro box always previousl;y connected via Mesh. This problem started when new BT Home Hub2 replaced previous model of Home Hub.
Strong connection is via satellite mesh hub beside TV box since home hub 2 is some distance away. Both mesh system and home hub2 have same SSID and passwords for obvious reasons.same as they did with previous Home Hub and mesh system..
The difference in signal strength is shown under systems on the BT TV pro box. One is full wifi strength and the other is barely registering so it seems the TV box is attracted to Home Hub as priority instead of the Tenda Nova mesh system despite both having same SSIDs etc.
Powerline adapters are worse than uiseless in my large flat.BT have already sent me 3 different pairs and none work adequately.

Don't the Tenda Mesh units have ethernet outlets? If one is near the box you could connect it via ethernet.

A lot of people seem to have WiFi problems with the Pro, even when connected to a BT Hub, although mine has always be rock solid.

Does it make any difference if you turn of 5GHz on the Home Hub?

yes the Tenda unit has an ethernet but although it is in same room it is at opposite end of large lounge. Tenda needs to sit near door to catch parent node beside Home Hub.
Interesting idea but BT TV box pro only uses 5GHz channel .
Thanks

That’s why I thought that turning 5GHz off on the hub might force the box to use the mesh.
