ADSL Modem

[link to this post]

Hello,

I'm currently looking at buying an ADSL modem and separate wireless router. I was looking at the following ADSL modems:

SpeedTouch 516
SpeedTouch 546
Netgear AG241

Could someone tell me if it's possible to use either of the SpeedTouch's in bride only mode. This will allow the modem to act as just a modem without NAT etc. simply delegating all other activities to my wireless router. This also allows double NAT'ing to be prevented.

I know it's possible with the netgear one, but I can't seem to find anything similar in the manuals for the SpeedTouch models.

I'd also appreciate any other suggestions for cheap ADSL modems that can perform bridge-only mode.

Thanks

Why don't you want a combined ADSL modem and router ?

I'm quite interested in getting a router that I can flash with 3rd party software (dd-wrt) for additional benefits. See dd-wrt for a list of features that it offers.

The routers that are supported are reasonably cheap - so I can get some amazing functionality at a very good price!
