Speedtouch 330

[link to this post]

I signed up to broadband with tiscali two months ago however I cannot get connected to the net. My modem does not seem to finish installing. I phoned tiscali about the problem and they assured me it was a faulty instalation CD and they would send me another CD. The same thing happens with the new CD. All a get on my modem is a red flashing light on the USB light and no light at all on the ADSL light. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you tell us the make & model of the modem, we may be able to help you.

Is it by any chance stuck on the installing drivers part of the cd?

Have you tried running the modem from a powered USB hub? They do have a heavy current draw, so it may be a power problem from the computer.

It reaches the last stage when it says attach your modem and wait for the next screen to appear which will finish installation. Nothing happens. All that appears is the new hardward found box and I have even tried to automatically and manually install the modem using that box but it can find the driver apparently. Even though the driver is meant to be on the installation cd!

TBH I had a strange feeling that might be it as I went to fit one for a friend that did the same thing.
The drivers on the disc can't seem to be installed.
IIRC you get the option to browse for the drivers and luckily during the installation the drivers are transfered to the program dir i.e program files/speedtouch I think.
When you get to the bit of installing the drivers just browse to the speedtouch dir on hard drive, and select the ones from there and hopefully it should work correctly from that point.
Hope that helps
