Speedtouch 585 v6 browser timeouts on 1 PC only

[link to this post]

Hey,

I bought the Speedtouch 585 v6.

So far, everything works great - except one thing.

Web Browsing.

I am using a wired config for the PC having a problem.

I have set up dynamic IP and set the speedtouch to keep the same address on my pcs.

I get timeouts when browsing the web on a regular basis - 30 to 60 seconds later it works again.

But here's the weird thing - on the same PC, if I'm playing a game or have a download app running (seperate from browser), I stay connected all the time. The problem only seems to be happening with my browser (Firefox but I've tried IE as well). DSL line is active throughout.

Access to the router from the browser is also not possible in these 'time outs'....yet I know the connection still exists and is working as I can download seperate during these times. Weird.

I must be missing something in my browser config? Any Ideas> Any tips?

Just to add, I have a wireless laptop and anohter PC connected to the Speedtouch and they do not suffer this problem at all.

I am also running a software firewall.

Much appreciated, many thanks.

Try disabling web browser interception

Thanks man, but I alread triedy that. No difference unfortunately.

Do you think it could be something on the software firewall? All my PCs have them, but you never know...

Try changing the MTU to 1380 temporarily on the PC affected to see if this has any effect.

Thanks Gavin, I'll give that a go.

A wuick Google suggests DrTCP?

Also, what exactly am I doing here? I why would it be a problem?

When I select 'allow all' on my software Firewall (Sygate), it does improve connectivity - however, when I turn the firewall completely off (i.e. close it down), it works good.

So is it the firewall? How can I fix this?

Many thanks for your help.
