DSL-G624T - Major Headache!

[link to this post]

I am running cygwin so that I can open an SSH connection to my machine from a remote location and remotely control it by setting up a tunnel through which I am able to use vnc.

The problem I have is in port forwarding the relevant port to allow the SSH tunnel to be set up. I have set up the port forward but find it extremely unreliable. Sometimes I am able to log into the SSH server - other times I get 'connection refused' as the router is not allowing the port forward.

I am finding that the connection refused message is being displayed sometimes even when the port forward is still set in the router. The way to resolve the problem is to 'remove' the port forward rule and add it in again (changing nothing).

Any ideas why this could be? Obviously when out at another locaiton I am unable to do this without opening up the router to WAN access which I do not want to do!

Any help / experience of this problem would be appreciated.

Many thanks.
