DG834G new firmware 3.01.31

[link to this post]

I am currently using 3.01.25 - all seems to be OK, so I am reluctant to change......however has anyone tried 3.01.31?

Are there any known problems and is is worth upgrading?

I have had no problems since upgrade, whether it is worth doing is up to you, I personally upgrade as it usually removes any know bugs from previous firmware.

Thanks - I'll risk it. If it goes wrong it's your fault!

No problems since installing it and it adds support for WPA2...

Edit: Ignore this post, I was thinking of the firmware for the v3 model. Must pay more attention

I have two identical DG834Gs and I have been conducting trials with different firmware versions (but identical settings). The following findings - via BT's Wargrave exchange which has had constant green lights since birth - are replicable:

V2.10.22
Very stable, zero loss of sync or connection - but downstream attenuation is reported as 40 which, on my 2MB fixed speed line is more than I would have wished.

V3.01.25
Regular loss of sync/connection followed by 'false' connections (ie the connection appears to be back but no data will move). Downstream attenuation reported as 37db though which is the best my line can manage.

V3.01.31
Seems to be offering the best of both worlds, ie no loss of connection, no 'false' connections - and 37db attenuation.

So, go forth and upgrade...

OK pr100 and cajef your both off the hook. Upgraded last night with no problems. I will be interested to see if the router has less dropped connections, however it always reconnects OK so no real problem with this.

They've let the 'midnight' bug back into this firmware which was fixed for .25. So everyday at midnight there's a hiccup in the line. Annoying.

Well can't say I have noticed or had any problems here at midnight, but will monitor more closely to see.

Let me know what you find but it's widely reported on Whirlpool forums and I'm experiencing it myself. If you use MSN you'll notice as you lose connection momentarily and on Xbox LIVE you will get a huge spike in your connection. It doesn't disconnect thankfully but it is annoying.

I had it on .22 but .25 fixed it. It's back with .31
