tips, use wired not wireless.
use static ip on pc not dhcp.

if still same problem boot windows into safe mode with networking support, this should then not even load up comodo and see if that works.

Thanks for the reply.

So i should try 10.0.0.1 for example for the static address, and also use 255.0.0.0

subnet mask 255.255.255.0, I think 10. and 192.168.1 both will work but I know for sure 192.168.1. range works so I would use that.

Connect by network cable

Set Static IP to 10.0.0.1 and Subnet to 255.0.0.0

Make sure you have any software firewall turned off. When you have done this check to see that the Windows firewall is also disabled or you'll get a bad flash.
Any Anti-virus software should also be disabled.

Do not attempt to power down or reset the Router until the flash has totally finished.

After the upgrade the Router should be reset to factory defaults, not once but twice. The 1st time USER.INI is deleted but it needs a 2nd go to delete USER.TPL

Bob's your uncle unless he's had the operation.

Ok thanks as well

When you say reset to factory defaults, that means putting a clip in the small hole on the back of the router. All tips welcome thanks again.

Yeah Zodiac you can do it that way if you wish or there's an option in the GUI to reset to factory defaults.
If you're using the reset button on the back hold it in for around 15 seconds before releasing it.

I am having the same issue. I have a laptop connected via Ethernet, ip set to 10.0.0.1/8 and the wizard runs finds the modem displays the info:-
Speedtouch 585
serial no
mode operational
ip 192.168.1.254/24 & 10.0.0.138/24
product code 36029470
physical add mac address
firmware version 6.2.17.5
tp version 2.0.0
bootloader 1.0.8
board type BANT-W (QN)
----
etc

but when I select all of the firmware files I have found (585v6-uk-62t2.bin, st585v6-r62t2-bant-2.bin,st585v6_zzqiaa7.432.bin) it says not compatable.

So where can I find some compatable firmware?? (to hopefully solve my dns problems, see my other thread)
