Thomson 585 DHCP no workie

[link to this post]

Hi There,

I have a thomson 585 that I purchased from zen.co.uk - it is actually the second one that I have received from them as I also got the same problem with the 1st one.

I have a block of 8 IP addresses that I use for client development machines and need to have a private network internally as well with DHCP for the wireless.

I have it all working fine aside from DHCP for my 192.168.1.x internal workstation addresses, if i set them statically they work, but DHCP does not work at all despite the fact that the thomson interface reports DHCP as enabled.

I could live with no DHCP on a wired network, but it is a nightmare for WIFI with my Linux machines as you cannot easily set a static address for a WIFI connection - not if you exoect it to reliably work!

Any help would be gratefully received,

Donald.

Hi All,

Me again, I have done a temporary fix!

I disabled wifi on the thomson box and then setup my netgear dg384G as a dhcp wireless access point, this in turn is routing traffic through to the thomson 585.

Far from ideal as I was hoping the thomson would do all I need and that i could sell the netgear.
