Which is the Best ADSL Router?

[link to this post]

I have a D-Link G604T Wireless Router which constantly drops wireless connection. I end up having to reboot it time and again to get it working again.

I'm now thinking of getting a really good one which can avoid interference, even from the Time Capsule router sitting next to it.

I'm also thinking of going Wireless N since those are the best of all routers with max speeds etc... (So I read).

Taking the above into consideration, which router should I choose?

I'd like the best of all features at a reasonable cost.

Any suggestions?

Go for a D-Link 2740B wireless N ADSL router. It has an excellent signal range, one of the best chipsets (Broadcom 6358) and is tweakable with DMT. A brand new unit would normally cost > £50 but Argos Clearance are selling it for only £37.99 also new:

You may also want to consider the Linksys WAG160N however over on the Linksys forums many people have reported intermittent loss of wireless signal with this router. This is £59.99

My personal recommendation is the Netgear DG834GT, after purchasing mine most of my problems ceased, with a benefit in speed also.
2nd user ones can be picked up quite cheaply and CAN be unlocked.
Good luck

Are there any with Multi Frequency channels just in case it is my neighbours router which is interfering?

Hi
I would also suggest the Netgear DG834gt.
I have an older model 834gv3 but it is very good on a poor line and very reliable, I never lose my connection. The interface is quite user friendly.

I will be upgrading to the 834GT soon.
They are available and not expensive.
Failing that go for the Netgear N type router, with even faster service.

good luck

No, the routers i mentioned all work in the 2.4 ghz range and you won't find any dual-band adsl modem routers in the UK...yet. See my other thread for a mini review of the netgear DGND3300 which i bought from USA:

I heard that if I get a 5Ghz router, it will not work with my other G equipment.
Is this correct?

If so, then I can rule out Multi Frequency.

This is correct, you would need your other equipment to support 5Ghz also.

I'd also recommend the 2740B, and at the clearance price that is very good value, plus you get an 11 year guarantee.
