7270 fritzbox

[link to this post]

anyone using one of these? 7270 fritzbox

how do you find it compared to other router's? especially on long noisy lines if possible?

I have a 7050 but as i am on a very very noisy line (trains and adsl line going over a bridge do not mix) i reverted to a 2wire as the 7050 was so unstable and simply use the 7050 as an ata.

Got to test a couple of routers for work and this is the first one i have to test hope it doesnt mess with my profile.

My line is only 3km from exchange but partly above ground and noisy. On O2 LLU, it is said that Fritz boxes are not as good as Broadcom based boxes but after I complained about resyncs, the latest version of the firmware v76 is brilliant. Very stable at 4.5 Mbps.

Did you get one of these if so whats it like.

It seems like a unique product which would enable me to get rid of a couple of power suppliues and tidy up my living room a bit.

I think I'll stick with my Draytek 2820 - it does all that the Fritzbox does (apart from the DECT bit, which I wouldn't want, because the Siemens Gigaset phones do it better). The Draytek 2820 has the Broadcom chipset which supports the INP noise cancelling system used by Be and O2.

Oh, and the 2820 has support for a USB 3G dongle, or a second input via ethenet, for fallback when the primary connection fails.

I thought the Draytek used Infinion (which in all respects seems to be as good as the broadcom).

Any idea where to find out? smile (without opening the lid!)

Well, I use a little utility called OrbMT which graphs the bin usage of the router, and I think that's telling me that it's Broadcom. I suppose that could be the kit at the exchange end ? I know that the Draytek works well with Be LLU lines, that's for sure.

interesting tool.

Yes, I found my 2820Vn gives almost identical performance to my BeBox / TG585v7.

I have a 7270 and its rock solid on my Virgin 10mg connection, the Netgear Virgin supplied kept crashing when I put any load on it.

Yes, I agree the Frizt!box is very reliable - I have had it now for 2 years with no problems at all - which I cannot say about the three previous Netgear Routers that kept crashing.

Hi all,
I have a Fritz!box 7270 and love its features and am using it as a DECT base station. It's replaced a very poor (in comparison) O2 Wireless Box II which constantly lost connections for extended periods. In the month since replacing it with the Fritz!box I've not had a single drop out, which is nice.

The one downside is that my current Philips DECT handset doesn't pick up the phone book from the router, so I'm looking for some advice on whether anyone has found a phone that can properly use the phone book functionality. I've seen that Siemens Gigasets may work. I know that AVM make handsets to go with the router but unfortunately they've only got a German language interface.

Any (useful) advice would be very welcome...

Thanks,

Steve

My Gigaset A58H handsets find the 7390 Telephone Book when I press the INT button - down at the bottom across from RECALL. Earlier BT Diverse(Siemens) find it hidden down a menu. Good luck!
