Billion 7800N - impulse noise protection

For those of you with the Billion 7800N you've probably noticed under config>wan>adsl mode>wan interface there's a "PhyR" setting for downstream/upstream which is not ticked by default. I've just found out from Billion support today that PhyR (pronounced fire) is a technology from broadcom which delivers a ten-fold improvement in noise resilience against impulse noise and delivers a reduction in bit error rates.

So i've enabled it but not sure if it will make much difference on my short-ish line but for those of you on long lines, it might be worth enabling PhyR to see if it helps with your error count

Interesting idea, but it reads as though it needs PhyR support at the DSLAM as well?

It also needs to be supported by your ISPs kit I believe, I think BE* have been looking at it but still haven't activated it. So enabling it just client-side only doesn't have an effect I don't think.
