I am using a 10 year old Belkin router and it gives better performance than the awful ones the ISP's supply.

But as already said IPv6 may well see the end of all those legacy routers in the next few years.

You could just put the O2 Box in bridge mode and use it as a modem only
You really need to havea static IP to do this and something to do the routing, NAT etc

I too would recommend the Billion 7800N - haven't used it myself, but good reports from those who have on BE

I tried to see if I have the options to put it in the bridge mode and doesn`t appear as the power user account is locked because I have static IP.

The problem with the NAT is doesn`t let me to open some ports or the firewall stops me to access my hdd remotely.

If you get good speeds on your O2 connection, don't go for a Draytek ADSL box. I'm on BE (so same DSLAMs) and I use my BeBox (TG585v7) in Bridge mode to a Draytek 2820vn. This way I get 16mbps sync, and 20+ days uptime stability. If I use the Draytek I get resync'd every few hours :-/
