Best all-in-one router for TT LLU long line?

I'm with Pulse-8, a TalkTalk Business reseller. I'm too far from my FTTC cab to benefit from VDSL, so I'm stuck with getting the best out of ADSL2+.

I'm currently using a creaky old Technicolor TG582n, which reports the MSAN is IFTN.

My question: What's the best value all-in-one router right now? I don't need gigabit, nor fancy Wi-Fi ac. Most important is to get the best from the line, ideally including margin tweaking.

Thoughts?


Edit: modem stats below. I know I can do better than this with a margin tweak, as a previous router achieved 14. My TG582n is my spare and can't be tweaked....

Posting your current stats would help as your 582n may be as good as it gets in your case.

Are you sure that router can't be tweaked? It looks like a Mk1 to me which could, as opposed to the Mk2 which didn't have a Broadcom chipset.

If you're happy using the TG582N for its wifi then pair it up with a Draytek Vigor 120 or 130 (latter has newest Lantiq chipset) as these ADSL2+ modems use the same chipset (Infineon/Lantiq) as the TalkTalk DSLAM in your exchange. You can't adjust the SNR on these but you probably won't need to as they give the optimum sync rates on TT ADSL2+, at least for short & medium length lines. Many moons ago the Draytek120 used to give me a sync of ~18 meg on my 29db attenuation TT line!!

Thanks. I've driven myself batty poking around int he telnet interface, but I can't find it. BTW, it has Plusnet's firmware loaded, so that may prevent it.

I suspect the Plusnet firmware has telnet disabled. I assume at the command prompt you have done

That opens a window empty except for �Debug Enabled�. You can close that window immediately.)

TG582n isn't a Netgear.

Telnet isn't disabled, but not all of the usual Broadcom commands are there, e.g., adsl or adslctl

Check xdslcmd. That's the command on Huawei kit.

Update: I got a great deal on a TP-Link Archer D2. It's taken my sync speed from about 13.2 to 14.5, without tweaking. Wi-Fi range improved and good to have gigabit. For the future, I'm ready for IPv6, once TTB finally get its finger out.
