DG834G UPnP

[link to this post]

Hi All,

Im having a problem with the Netgear DG834Gs UPnP feature, very frequently, for no reason the UPnP function of the router seems to totally disappear, no UPnP can be detected by ANY pcs on the network it just seems to disappear, and i have to completely reboot the router and pcs to get the UPnP to show up again, this can happen anywhere from 5minutes after turning on to 5 days after turning on, i just don't know why though. can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Have you taken a review of the version of firmware running vs Netgear site. Folks seem to say the V3/x is the best, but I stopped using Netgears a while ago, so can't comment. Never found an issue (as I recall) on V1 or V2 firmware with UPnP tho.

I found UPNP to be best supported on the last version 2 firmware. I had problems with version 3 firmware and upnp.

I also get this exact issue but on a Netgear DG834GT, instead of rebooting the router though, it kicks into life again, if I just reapply the upnp option on the router, ie just click on the apply button again.. this seems to fix it until the next time..
Tried every firmware with the same problem, maybe netgear will fix it oneday!

Never had this on an version 1 DG834G I used to have..

I have the same problem. In fact I'm here on this site to get a recommendation for a replacement. I'm on my second DG834, with firmware upgrades and they've both been hopelessly unreliable. They just go down at random intervals: no Internet access, no LAN, nothing.

Yeah, I might go get a speedtouch 585 or something, at least it will work and do what I want it to.

Only thing is if I do that Azureus looses port mappings and then wont re-add them
