RJ11 Modem Cables - Max Cable Run Length?

Evening all, whats the max stated cable run of a modem cable (modem to socket) supposed to be? I know it'll be affect by lots of variables but whats the stated max?

I don't know the max length of a telephone cable, but if you need to run a long cable, I'd be more inclined to run a long CAT5 cable instead, much less loss over a reasonable distance that with a telephone cable extions lead. Plug the modem / router in to the phone line as close as possible then run the CAT5 cable.

There is no stated max within your house...remember the phone line has travelled many miles (potentially) to get to you in the first place so a few more metres *should* have little effect.

If you're running a long extension, use proper 'round' phone cable (not alarm cable) or Cat5 for the best results - don't use a cheapo flat extension cable.

Max length of Cat5 is 100 metres, but that's for use as ethernet cable. As another poster suggests, the phone line has already travelled 100's of metres, so a few more isn't going to make much difference, except that now you're above ground and the cable is no longer screened.

Nor is the cable in an RJ11 lead likely to be twisted pair so will pick up much more interference than the twisted pair equivalent.
