Hi,
I have a Belkin wireless G+ router, which on the whole works fine. However, it sometimes drops the DSL connection for no apparent reason (at best once a week, at worst several times in an evening). The connection always comes back up, usually fairly quickly but can take up to 5 minutes.
I've tried replacing it with the original BT Voyager thing I got when I signed up, that doesn't drop out at all (but is just a modem so can't revert to that). I've also asked BT to check the phone line, they say it's OK. I've called Belkin, best they could suggest was upgrading the firmware, which made no difference. They did take me through all the settings for the router and the network connection and said they seemed fine.
Is there anything else I could try before I start kicking up a fuss and ask for a replacement under the warranty? (NB although I'm computer-literate I'm a total newb at this sort of thing so be gentle with me)
Don't know if this is relevant, but the laptops refuse to acquire IP addresses so as suggested by Belkin (thank goodness for their free tech helpline) they're now set up with static IP addresses. This is OK for the moment as I only connect them at home.
thanks,
Pip
