BT 190 Voyager Router Help

[link to this post]

I've had this 190 router for a few months now but I would like to know how to set proxies on this because it didn't come with any applications & how do you get the line stats from the modem please?

I would like to know info like the Local/Remote Attenuation & SNR Margins but can't get it. I've search the forums & the net but there isn't anything that helps.

Using AOL Silver 1Mb @15.99 a month.

The "aoltest" URL resolve to a AOL Test page (http://192.168.0.1/main.html) on the modem.

Questions On BT Voyager 190 by Deity

OK, here is my answer to my own questions.

Q1a) So the software that I have to install to use BT Voyager 190, is it a driver? Would the PC be under NAT using that modem?

Without installing the software that comes with the Modem, I can still use the modem to access AOL UK via 2 of the following ways:

Connect the modem to the phone line, power supply and the Ethernet port of the PC. Set the PC to use DHCP

1) Download and install AOL 9.0 software and use the AOL 9.0 software to sign in to the AOL network. It should detect AOL Broadband modem as the network device available to you

2) Configure XP to create a new connection (PPPoE) as shown in http://members.aol.com/kazchat2/id17.htm then connect to the Internet via the connection newly created connection.

Q1b) Does the Ethernet modem (BT Voyager 190) work as a router ??

The BT Voyager 210 could work as a router (it support 2 devices, 1 via USB, 1 via Ethernet at the same time), the BT Voyager 190
