Yeah i guess i have, but i never really got a direct answer, so thought it would be good to ask the other guy about his experiences and if he had to upgrade his firmware to get rid of the idle timeout problem, which means no DMT.

I've not had the idle timeout problem since I made the following adjustments to my 585v6 which I came across in another thread on here:

Telnet into the router and do:

env list

which should show a big list of environment variables with SESSIONTIMEOUT in it probably set to 600.

If you then do:

env set var=SESSIONTIMEOUT value=0
saveall

I'm running the 6.1.4.3 firmware and am currently on 13 days of uptime since making this change. Of course, having now posted this the problem will re-occur in the next 5 mins.

I saw that telnet command posted on here a while ago and I also tried it out but the 'idle timeout' problem still came back so I've given up with the 6.1.4.3 firmware now!

Someone said that that particular telnet command is to do with the telnet interface timing out and is nothing to do with the 'idle timeout' problem mentioned in this thread but don't quote me on it as I'm not sure to be honest?

Whatever it's for it didn't fix the 'idle timeout' problem for me

It's Telnet time-out. See page 232 of the CLI User Guide, where it quotes this one as an example of the use of the "env" command:

"For infinite TELNET time out, set the value of the variable SESSIONTIMEOUT to

Oh well, I've just been very lucky then. 13 days with no idle-timeout is unheard of for me. I thought this had cracked it, but now I'm just waiting for the inevitable

Thanks for clearing up precisely what that EV affects though.

Thomson ST585v6 HP (BANT-9) looks worrying, what is this product? it starts with a firmware version which DMT does not work on possibly meaning speedtouch are going to phase out routers that support DMT tweaks.

I think the HP stands for High Power and I don't think it's intended for use in the UK.
