Problems upgrading firmware on ST585v6

Hi

I currently have firmware 6.1.4.3 and want to upgrade to 7.2.0.8. I've lost the upgrade wizard CD which came with the router so i downloaded the wizard from www.speedtouch.co.uk/580.asp (only place where i could find it online) and replaced the 580's fiirmware file with ZZQIAA7208.bin ( i renamed it from bli) Now i do manage the run the wizard but after completing the stage "the device is starting upgrade mode" i get an error message saying upgrade cannot be completed, please try again. My firewall and antivirus have both been switched off, so what could be the problem? and i am trying this over wireless not through ethernet. Also i tried ftp commands but without any luck:

ftp>bin
ftp>cd dl
ftp>put C:\ZZQIAA7208.bin

I think I got this error when I did my Speedtouch 780, and someone else who upgraded got an error with his 585v6. I can't remember if either was at the exact same point as yours though.

Take a look at the firmware version in the router interface - it might have been successful anyway. Mine was.

Do not use wireless for upgrading firmware. Use an ethernet cable, also it is best to set a fixed IP address in your tcp/ip settings during the upgrade process. You can revert to dhcp once it has finished.

gateway 192.168.1.254

bingo! it works over ethernet, so thanks for that beachboy. I can only assume the wireless signal is turned off momentarily during the upgrade process. Ermmm...haven't actually gained any higher sync by using 7.2.0.8 and of course dmt doesn't work, but will give it a few days to see if my FEC error count is any lower. And to revert back to the old firmware (6.1.4.3) will the upgrade wizard let me do this? (using 6.1.4.3 bin file of course).
