Which modem or modem router for Be/O2?

I've read the DG834 range are good as they have good sync rates and a custom firmware. However I also read that they appear to have a bug when logging disconnections (IE they don't).

My requirements are.

High sync rate and stable connection
SNR adjustment (Preferably using something like DMT)
SNMP for monitoring data transfered ovcer ADSL (Localised progs like Netmeter are no good for me as they also measure data transfered over my local network).

I don't need wifi or even a 4 port hub as I use a D-Link DIR655 for that. I just need a good ADSL modem to replace my now messed up Belkin 7633 (Updated the firmware to .25 pre and regretting it).

Why buy another box...wait until you've tried the O2/Be Box, though not sure if that SNMP abilities

Be box (aka Speedtouch) has SNMP capabilities however there are varying reports on the Be forums of it being broken.

I'm in the same situation, although I have a ST516v6 (v5 firmware as shipped!). which has been excellent with bulldog (@ 18mbps), I'm informed it can't do annex M, so I'd have to replace if I wanted "Be Pro".

Tweakability (SNRM basically) is essential, which the BeBox and other new ST kit can't do due to firmware lockouts. (Thompson should be told they're losing market share over this!).

Isn't it just as likely they are gaining market share? Perhaps ISPs recognise the reduced support costs in not having to cope with customers who have tweaked their lines to destruction.

Personally I disagree, since on Bulldog's default 10/12db SNRM, I get about 13meg. Tweaking I get 18meg, *stable* over 2 years.

Be and other ISPs are probably more customer orientated, and happy to try lower target SNRM's from the DSLAM, but Bulldog were probably more interested in reducing call centre load.
