ADSL broadband filter to replace a DSL one?

[link to this post]

I've posted in a different thread about problems I've been having with my DSL connection. I noticed there was some kind of dirt I couldn't get out of my DSL filter and thought this may be causing the problem. The only filter I could find to replace mine was an ADSL broadband filter. I am connected now but am wondering if it makes a difference having an ADSL filter rather than a DSL filter? I'm obviously new here with almost no technical knowledge!

They'll be one and the same.

The type often described as "soap on a string" are better than the small solid Tee shaped ones.

Thanks, that's very useful info. Unfortunately, I've picked up one of the t-shaped ones. Hopefully that will do for now anyway...

Some of the T ones are OK, others are grey imports not specifically designed for UK phone network, so may or may not work very well

I tend to think there's too many components crammed into a small space so that even audio frequencies can "by-pass" the filter. The larger square filters are able to arrange the components better on a decent pcb and imho, will always be better unless they've made a real hash of the build quality.
