DMT tool with TP-Link modem?

Hi,

Does anyone know how to get DMT tool to work with a TP-Link modem? Specifically the TD-8840T. Or some similar tool that works with TD-8840T? I've got router-stats to work ok but that does telnet in so only shows what's on the web interface.

And the point of your post is what? That you work for netgear?

I don't have problem with TP-Link. For 15 quid it has given me a 22% speed increase. I'd just like to get DMT working so I can tweak to see if I can get up from 7616 to 8128.

More on point I have found OrbMT. That connects it I use the P-635HWI type setting which is lists as Zyxel Prestige 635HWI, Edimax AR-7xxx, Billion BiPAC 52xx.

Trying to debug DMT different types it doesn't seem to have setting that is right. On OrbMT the login names is greyed out for the 635 setting. That fits with telnetting in. I just get the password prompt and no login. I can't seem to get DMT to do that.

According to this, the TD8840 uses either the Broadcom BCM6338 or BCM5325 chipset. If your router is new-ish, then chances are its got the 6338 chipset which should work with DMT tool v8.07

Sorry, it appears you have the TD8840T which according to this uses a Trendchip chipset so won't be compatible with DMT Tool. By all means do try to use DMT tool v8 but chances are it won't work

I've not got DMT8 to work (or any DMT version for that matter). OrbMT seems the closest. Can't find a TP-Link telnet command manual either.

if you telnet to the router you can use the same username/password to login. Then use the ? command to see the command line options. Notice that the router chipset is normally shown above the logon username prompt

I emailed TP-Link who have sent me the telnet CLI manual which was nice of them. For others with this moden some useful commands are

wan adsl chandata - display the adsl channel data or line rate to determine if you're on fast channel or interleave channel mode.

wan adsl linedata f, wan adsl linedata n - upstream or downstream line noise margin and attenuation, and tone matrix

wan adsl perfdata - adsl performance data (e.g. FEC errors etc.)

wan adsl diag - loads of diag data, part way down is SNR figure with average/min/max

The commands can be shorten to 1 or 2 letters, e.g. w ad c. You need ad for adsl since there are 2 a... commands for wan.
