No, only out of Personal Systems.

HP, under previous CEO, mooted the strategy of hiving off its Personal Systems Group (PSG), covering PCs, laptops, handhelds and calculators but not printers, but then our share price plummeted frown , so it's not a done deal yet.

However, there is no talk of doing away with Enterprise Storage and Servers (ESS) Group, which covers Servers, Storage and Networking. We are big in servers.

Very good decision in my view, so much business is sold because HP control the margins on the hardware that they sell as part of the deal. Some of the kit is actually good too smile

At least we have some clarification, viz:-
This news release contains forward-looking statements that involve risks, uncertainties and assumptions. If such risks or uncertainties materialize or such assumptions prove incorrect, the results of HP and its consolidated subsidiaries could differ materially from those expressed or implied by such forward-looking statements and assumptions. All statements other than statements of historical fact are statements that could be deemed forward-looking statements, including but not limited to statements of the plans, strategies and objectives of management for future operations, including execution of growth strategies, transformation initiatives and restructuring plans; any statements concerning expected development, performance or market share relating to products and services; any statements regarding anticipated operational and financial results; any statements of expectation or belief; and any statements of assumptions underlying any of the foregoing. Risks, uncertainties and assumptions include macroeconomic and geopolitical trends and events; the competitive pressures faced by HP's businesses; the development and transition of new products and services (and the enhancement of existing products and services) to meet customer needs and respond to emerging technological trends; the execution and performance of contracts by HP and its customers, suppliers and partners; the protection of HP's intellectual property assets, including intellectual property licensed from third parties; integration and other risks associated with business combination and investment transactions; the hiring and retention of key employees; expectations and assumptions relating to the execution and timing of growth strategies, transformation initiatives and restructuring plans; the resolution of pending investigations, claims and disputes; and other risks that are described in HP's Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the fiscal quarter ended July 31, 2011 and HP's other filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, including but not limited to HP's Annual Report on Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended October 31, 2010. HP assumes no obligation and does not intend to update these forward-looking statements.
In short, any forecasts we make could be calamitously wrong, and if they are, tough luck if you acted on them.

So what? Can you guarantee your forecasts will materialise? At least it warns you of the dangers of relying on them.

It's in the same vein as "Your investment may go down as well as up!"

HP has always stated this in all its releases and is probably required to do so by the SEC, probably to guard against inside trading (I can't be bothered to look it up as it is so inconsequential).

I did wonder whether or not to include the final comment.

It appears I shouldn't have done frown. Just the crack about the clarification is sufficient, but doubtless you will repeat the quibble about that as well. smile

Are you quite sure that load of legalese could not be more understandably put, in about twenty words?

Edit - /me emails to XRay with a Sense of humour attachment.

I gathered you were in two minds about making this comment when I received two email notifications of your last post ....

confused

but when I arrived here I can see only one post with none deleted as I expected.

So I searched both emails for a Sense of humour attachment to no avail smile. So I'm also confused about your added edit and conclude you are just having me on tongue.

HP's disclaimer has nothing on this one: http://www.kinross.com/legal-disclaimer.aspx (which I never read but just going by quantity); the 1st I found by search engine.

Also known as a "safe harbor statement" grin

Doesn't it also infuriate you to receive an email with a voluminous disclaimer at end, which I invariably remove on reply, only to get it repeated in their re-reply?

That Kinross one is a real beauty!

Re two notifications, you have those turned on? Eek! I would be deluged, and you can't be far off.

I did have it on for a while, but when told by Andrew (or seb/john/don/bill) that an edit does not trigger a second I decided it was pointless, as so many people edit long after I have read their posts and possibly replied.

Re Sense of humour, (that sentence being the one added in the edit), if I hadn't put the comment after the quote of the disclaimer, it would have been clear that my reference to clarification was tongue-in-cheek. The comment muddied the waters.
