ADSL2+ Modems.

Does anyone know of any ADSL2+ modems (Or routers that can be bridged) that don't also double up as heaters.

Ideally I'd like to stack 2 on top of each other to save space (I have 2 lines) but wouldn't want the bottom one to cook the one above.

I'm also interested in any that can re-sync fairly quickly.

I have a zyxel on one of the lines that takes a long time to resync if it drops out, the DG834GT I had on the line previsouly seemed to be much quicker at obtaining sync after a drop out but it suffers from hard lockups, taking it apart one of the capacitors looks a bit suspect.

2Wire2700HGV or 2Wire2701HGV - they stand upright and will take up even less space sitting next to each other.

Resyncs were from experience fairly rapid - and they hold a 20 event log of all sync/resync events including the sync speed and SNRs immediately before sync was lost.

Forgot to state one of them needs to support Annex M, I don't think the 2wire does?

Dont have a web connection at present but will find the spec when BTOpenreach have finished testing.

The specs for both 2700 and 2701 have disappeared from the 2 wire site.

Their support is usually quite good - why not email and ask.

I used to have a 2700 and that didn't have Annex M support on it, but it was re-flashed with singtel firmware in order to unlock it. Gave it to someone in the family a while back and seems to work fine on their talktalk line.

The newer firmwares may well support Annex M.

Haven't seen the 2701 yet.

The 2701 is the upgraded version with a WAN port to allow a separate modem that supports VDSL with an internal modem for ADSL.

Tech support in the US have always been helpful in the past - try a quick email across to them.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't stack them. All the ones I've seen recently are a square design, like a paperback and they have plenty of venting slots. They seem to dissipate heat a lot better when standing on an edge, rather than lying flat. Even the TG585
