Strange. In this case it the problem seems like it must be related to the first problem.

Have you got the latest firmware on the router?

The latest firmwares (for 2820) ask for username/password through the webpage as opposed to a popup dialogue box, in both IE and Firefox.

Also perhaps try HTTPS instead of HTTP or vice-versa.

I would have thought of updating the firmware ,since I experienced the issue of firefox, but I wasn't sure which firmware version to use from the link below :

But when you pointed to the firmware update , I decided it is a time to do that.

After updating, I can access the web interface by using both browsers Firefox and IE, locally and via VPN as well.

Before update I tried to use my laptop which is connected wirelessly to the router I was not able to access the web interface either from the Firefox or the IE, when I updated to the latest firmware the issue is fixed as well

firmware version before updating was 3.3.5.3
After updating firmware version was 3.3.7.2

As mentioned in the notes the .rst is always the safer option than the .all, as sometimes the firmware updates aren't compatible with previous settings and the router goes funny. Minor version changes are usually OK with .all firmware.

Figures I thought I'd ask because a lot of people in the UK do get their firmware from the Australia site - they always seem to release the newer versions first on their website, but once the UK one comes out it's usually best to get that (for folks in the UK, that is!)
