Re: load balancing router

Thr throughput is firewall throughput. Are you ever likely to use the full bandwidth down on both? If you are then you are in enterprise territory and therefore will need to pay the money.

I have the 2920 and as stated it will do circa 145mbps and the load balancing and failover is great.

The Microtik routers sub £100 have dual WAN and probably more features than the Draytek and will do 600mbps throughput. I would have got one myself but I spotted them after I got my Draytek.

The router you are linking to is probably a little too DIY for me. The Draytek 2960 states it's capable of 600mbps which I guess is the updated model of the one you have. How have you found your model? Are you able to route certain traffic over a specific connection?

I will be using the full bandwidth of both connections when downloading from newsgroups which are capable utilising load balanced connections to their maximum.

As an example for my gaming PC I route http (TCP 80) traffic through my VM connection and all other traffic through my Bethere connection as the BE connection is far lower latency and far more stable.
You can send whatever where ever.

Microtik routerboard - You can buy a case for it all in £90. Try the demo site whereby you can log into a working Routerboard and play to you hearts content but it is more complex. 90% of the functionality you and I would probably never use at home.
