I called a official reseller of Technicolour today and asked about the TG582n Router they were selling.

I asked if it was a generic version. Anyway called back later and was confirmed, it is a generic version, that will work with all isp's. They offer 1 year support with it as well.

They told me they also, flash generic versions with the isp firmware for isp's.

Thought you would like to know, if you want a generic version.

Also found this forum http://www.broadband-forum.org/ where isp's and other use it. Maybe it has firmware or something on the forum. It's not for the public though.

Due to the adverts problem on the images I am reposting what I posted before but as I can't remember half of it, it's not the same as before. Any bad adverts that show up on the links, let me know or over in TTTS. It's a problem with the image host.


This will be my last post on this. This is some photos of the plusnet version TG582n. Not a lot different compared with the o2 version. Only difference is the plusnet has winbond memory that�s not on the o2 version.

I bought and ADSL version that is for Plusnet but want to get it working on fibre. Plusnet told me the routers are all the same, just different firmware.

So if anybody knows or can link to the most up to date firmware for plusnet fibre, please post. Not demo versions or old versions.

The TG582n Routers I talk about won't work on any isp and unless somebody can hack it, then this router is just a worthless brick, if you leave your isp. If you can buy a so called generic version, like above, then you should be ok.

No, I rather have my own freedom router as mine is Netgear DGND3700 and this router is brilliant can connect via BT FTTC modem, BT ADSL2+ and Virgin Media Cable. I prefer seperator!

Do you mean you can change the IP address of the router itself?

I'm trying to change mine to 10.0.0.1 to match my network but I can't see where to do it.

To change the IP address of the Technicolor TG582n router via a web browser:-
Login on the old IP address
then click on
Home Network > Interfaces > LocalNetwork > Configure

It appears the router can have two LAN IP addresses.
