You can put a dangler into the phone socket of the V10 faceplate, rather than the test socket, if you want to put it back and you can't find the old NTE5 faceplate (pinched by the OR eng who thought it would be helpful to replace mine with a V10 )

That's just where I put it, plus a couple of others in appropriate places

There's no question of going back to the old NTE5 as the old master socket was installed by the GPO in1980 ! I'm just wondering whether to join the 21st century one of these days.

I just meant the faceplate; the V10 & the NTE5 faceplates are interchangeable.

Sure, but I don't think our old 1980 socket had a removable faceplate and presumably wasn't an NTE5. Still, as the engineer did a bit of switching around of the connections to turn the extension socket into the master socket and had to smash the original master socket (which is now the extension socket) in order to get into it, I'm perfectly open to argument.

Ah, OK! I forgot you'd swapped master sockets and the old one wasn't an NTE5.
