The 'problem' phones connect to sure signal without any problems, and stay connected. Even when the calls are dropped and sure signal has stabilised, the phones reconnect OK.

Strange indeed. A complete guess as Vodafone don't publish how the SS works (for obvious reasons) - I believe it makes an IPsec VPN from the device to Voda's network - it might be making multiple IPsec sessions. Some routers don't like this as we found with Cisco client and remote workers. ??

In which case wouldn't that affect all phones?

I would be really tempted to get a replacement from vodafone.
It sounds more like a faulty unit than an issue with your broadband.

As one phone works that rules out the setup

Two dont work however. I would tell vodafone it's not working on any phones and surely they'd have to send out a replacement unit?

At least that's one more thing ruled out then.

It's out of warranty, and would therefore cost me £100 for the new 'Plug in' version. Apparently tracerts, pings and download speeds are well within tolerances. The unit was 'resynced' at their end which forces any outstanding updates to the unit when I did a factory reset.

So everything seems hunky dory from the unit to Vodafone. Luckily the Galaxy mini2, my wifes phone, actually gets a reasonable network signal at home. I've removed her phone from the sure signal and it hasn't dropped a call as yet smile The Galaxy Y is now surplus to requirements.

That's what I'm unsure about - only real way to tell would be to turn all the mobiles off, power cycle the SS, and then turn on the phones in a known order trying calls on each, and then see if the problem moves.

You could get a 2nd hand SS on eBay, they're usually around the £25 mark.

Being pedantic, I think you will find that using them would be illegal!!

Its a very quirky Law!!!

Although it is not illegal to sell or buy, it is illegal to use, without a Licence!

Vodafone can provide you one on the basis they are Licensed & you are using it under their Licence.

Not at all - as the device doesn't transmit until its linked to a valid vodafone account on the vodafone.co.uk website and each SS has a dedicated serial number.

So there is no problem selling them - vodafone know exactly which ones are in use and are in full control.

It not like those illegal GSM repeaters that are just transmitters.

I still think the unit is likely to be faulty but it's not worth £100 given your situation. It cannot be the network as the s3 works fine on it.
Perhaps the unit for whatever reason can only authenticate one device.

This is a strange case where odd things are happening, which honestly shouldn't be happening. I've always found in these odd type cases somethings faulty.

But operating in a different Band with different Licence requirements!

As I said, I was being pedantic - the chances of anyone noticing much be pretty small!
