Re: Single device on network, needs no NAT

The only other annoying thing is that both my modems are ECI Telecom. Couldn't find anything about unlocking this one online, so I assume I'll have to get an unlocked HG one from ebay or something.

The ECIs can be unlocked but it it involves opening them up and messing with the hardware. Buying an HG612 off eBay is the best bet. Make sure it's a 3B model as earlier ones could overheat. It's identifiable by a white power unit - earlier ones had black. Unless someone cheats.

Unlocking is easy and the locked versions are often cheaper than those that are unlocked.

Can your video conferencing device create a PPPoE connection?

Unfortunately not, so I won't be able to just bridge it to the HG612, but I am hoping that getting rid of one of the devices (the Draytek) between the video conferencing device (Polycom HDX) and the internet will help the connection anyway. It will also give me something new to play around with as I have exhausted all options on the Draytek, the router is far too complicated for what I need and has too many options.

I assume I can't get the mode where the HG612 functions as a modem only, but also logs into the ISP? It used to work really well with BE Unlimited. Back then, I used to just hardcode the public IP into the Polycom and that was that. Their box used to have a bridge mode (or modem only mode) that also did the logging in. Or was it the case that they didn't need to log in at all? I can't remember. But that used to work much better than what I am getting right now on whichever of the hundreds of setting combinations that I have tried.

Thanks again.

Pity. I think you should be able to get the HG612 into half-bridge mode to pass the IP address to the device. The help menu in the settings is quite comprehensive.

I've used Polycom HDX on ADSL lines in DMZ mode with a number of different routers with no issue - it can be done!
